A happy accident
Why Yona’s?
When Alexander the Great’s army reached India in 326 BC, some of his Greeks stayed. The people of India called them Yona, or Yavana in Sanskrit, a name that came from “Ionian”.
More than two thousand years later, Dilan and Andrew were running The Greek Indian, bringing those same two worlds together in one kitchen. So when their Cypriot potato fries became a crisp, they named it after the Greeks who made India home.
It started with a plate of fries
Yona’s happened by accident. While running The Greek Indian, Dilan and Andrew realised their Cypriot potato fries with oregano and chilli were flying out of the kitchen.
In that moment they knew they had something special, so they turned it into a crisp. Every batch is still made by hand, with the best Cypriot potatoes.
A taste of village life

Our forefathers would sit on their plastic chairs, sharing a drink and dreaming about everything that lay ahead. We wanted to make a crisp they would have loved.
A crisp is more than a snack. It’s a moment to pause, to share and to enjoy the simple things.
